Who are we? What do we stand for?
THE NAME
The name Original Sin comes from the biblical story of The Fall of Man, after Adam and Eve ate fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Genesis 3:7
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
THE LETTERS
The concentric layers of black and white letters represent the unity of chaos and order. One cannot exist without the other and from these elements, God created the world through His Word. To live meaningfully, is to walk the path between the borders of these two domains.
THE NUMBERS
The 3 crosses stand for the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
THE COLORS
The crosses are dyed red representing the sacrificial blood of Jesus. White characterizes chaos and black symbolizes order.
THE SYMBOLS
The letter I's in the name are replaced by crosses to declare that God is greater than the individual. Additionally, Jesus was crucified along with two thieves. The one to his right chose to repent and accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. The one on his left refused and cursed Jesus, leading to his eternal damnation.
Original Sin embodies the deep story telling culture of Christianity and the Holy Bible. Bringing forward our favorite allegories and parables and expressing them through clothing is our philosophy. Each of our pieces draw inspiration from an archetypal biblical theme and combine them with classic and under-appreciated visuals from the past to create bold and memorable graphics.
We abandon the seasonal fashion structure and opt to create small capsules that place value on quality story telling.
